Not all Internet speed tests are the same. The most common, free speed tests (click on the button to the left) only look at the maximum available bandwidth on a connection. They do not present an accurate measurement of actual throughput, or effective bandwidth, or many of the other important measurements such as latency, jitter, packet loss, etc. Also, keep in mind, the results of any speed test are only a slice of time and will vary depending on several variables. We recommend running multiple tests at various times and taking an average approach to your calculations.
